September 16, 2009
I.    Roll call

II.    Approval of minutes from last meeting
None
III.    New business

a)    Review of Curriculum Council membership. There was significant discussion about the vacant positions for 09-10 Curriculum Council. It was determined that anyone who is interested in serving on curriculum council, and is not already represented by the departments/areas listed above, should send an email to Karla, who will open the positions for one week, collect names, and conduct a staff vote.
b)    The open areas identified in our District Leadership Plan are: one ELL representative, and two other positions. It was noted that the intent of the Leadership Plan was to have someone from the Performing Arts area fill one position, but Nina shared that the area feels that it is already well represented and does not want to use one of the leadership positions. It was also noted that Rachel Carson was initially mentioned in the Leadership Plan for one position.
c)    Curriculum Council agreed that the time of the meetings would be 3:25-4:40. If the meeting was going over time, the group would need to stop and agree to either continue the meeting, or reschedule items.  
d)    Kim shared the new district spending guidelines, which will have an impact on professional development travel for the 09-10 year.
e)    Mike Stasack was elected to the Curriculum Council chair position.
