Speech and Debate Team:

Speech and Debate Team.  Remember to meet in room F-37 at lunch for yearbook pictures.

 

The theme of this week’s Career Seminar is Business Connections—Speak with Sherilyn Schwartz, owner of Pension Solutions and Bonnie Larson, Marketing Director of SELCO credit union.  Learn about opportunities in the corporate, finance and small business worlds.  When?  Thursday, during 4th period in the Career Center.  Remember to check with your 4th period teacher before coming.

 

Students make the best use of your Wednesday mornings – come study in the Career Center until class starts.  Free tutors are available as well as Career Center volunteers.  To make it extra worth-while we are giving raffle tickets for each half hour you spend studying in the Career Center from 7:45 to 9:45am on Wednesdays.  One of these tickets will win a new, blue i-Pod nano in a drawing at noon on the Friday before spring break.

Tomorrow morning, from 8:00am to 10:00am there will be a Pancake Breakfast at Applebee’s and our own Mr. Lancer contestants will be serving.  The cost is $5.00 for unlimited pancakes.  Come and pick up your ticket at lunch by the planter.

A – Did you know this week is awareness week?

B – “No, what is awareness week?

A – Awareness  week is spreading the good news about health centers.  The health center is just like a doctor’s office, with the convenience of being in your school, no one is turned away due to inability to pay and you can go there and check you knee, get vaccines, or talk to a counselor if your feeling the need.

B – Our school based health center is located in the Student Personnel Center.

 

Today, National Honor Society will be hosting a Senior Prom for the residents of Churchill Estates.  All National Honor Society students who signed up to decorate, participate or clean up need to check the NHS bulletin board and their E-mail.  Those attending the dance need to follow the dress code.  Guys need to wear Dockers and ties and girls need to wear dresses.  Decorators need to be at Churchill Estates at 9:00am and the dance begins at 2:00pm.  Please advise any teachers if you will be absent.  Any questions see Mrs. Grube.

 

Bookworm Club:

Bookworm  Club will meet today at lunch in the Library.

Churchill’s Theatre’s Musical:

Tomorrow night is the 7:00pm preview for Once Upon A Mattress.  Opening night is Saturday at 7:30pm and there is a Matinee this Sunday at 2:00pm.  Come see some amazing dancing, laugh, smile and enjoy this classic musical featuring a company of 65.

Tomorrow (Thursday), National Honor Society will be hosting a Senior Prom for the residents of Churchill Estates.  All National Honor Society students who signed up to decorate, participate or clean up need to check the NHS bulletin board and their E-mail.  Those attending the dance need to follow the dress code.  Guys need to wear Dockers and ties and girls need to wear dresses.  Decorators need to be at Churchill Estates at 9:00am and the dance begins at 2:00pm.  Please advise any teachers if you will be absent.  Any questions see Mrs. Grube.

Once upon A Mattress opens this weekend.  We invite you to a free preview Friday at 7:00pm.  Performances are $7.00 for students and are this Saturday at 7:30pm and Sunday at 2:00pm.  The show runs weekends until March 14th.  Don’t miss Jessica Farmer, Brian Carpenter, Emily Skeen, Mallory Bray and a cast of 43, orchestra and crew as they will charm you with this delightful, dancy, beautifully costumed story of the Princess and the Pea.

This Thursday, there is a Papa’s Pizza fundraiser for Mr. Lancer.  Pick up a flyer in the Activity office and come and support your Mr. Lancer contestants.

Ultimate Frisbee Players:

There is a Sports meeting tonight at 7:00pm, in the auditorium about this spring sport.

 

Activities:

Congratulations to the Varsity Cheerleading team for their outstanding finish at last weekends’s OSAA State Cheerleading Championship.  The team placed an awesome 3rd out of 13 teams in the 5A category.

 

Sports Teams:

Congratulations to the following teams.

·      Boys basketball for a great win last Friday against Thurston.  The win broke the tie and now Churchill sits in first place alone.

·      Wrestling finished 2nd in districts with 11 individuals  who will be competing in state.  Congratulations to Joe Close, Russell Pascual, Will Bales, Zack Brunson, Kyle Ryeberger, Scott Prior, Joe Potts, Chase Kearney, Jon Derr, Cory Miller and Trevor Davis on making it to State.

·      Swimming, congratulations to Brett Clark on qualifying for State.  Good job teams!!!
