Congratulations to Elizabeth Sampedro!
Churchill senior Elizabeth Sampedro, a Gates Millennium Scholar, will be the first person in her extended family to attend college. This is "a distinction that essentially guarantees (her) a full undergraduate education, perhaps even graduate school, and provides ongoing academic support and mentoring. Funded by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, the program aims to help outstanding, financially needy minority students."
"Sampedro will study pre-med at Willamette University, with an eye to becoming a pediatrician."

CHS Career Center Advisor, Betsy Hoell, was recognized as the 4J "A Champion in Education" for classified staff on Tuesday night at a ceremony in the Hult Center. Five other CHS folks were nominated; Luz Cisneros - Counselor, Kelly Dahlgren - Health Teacher, Deon Saraceno - IHS Teacher, Julie Johnson - Family Studies Coordinator, and Christine Pettingill - IHS Teacher.
Of course, Betsy is directing the $750 award to be used as another scholarship for our students. Yeah, Betsy!

Oregon State University will hold the 10th annual Engineering Expo on Friday, May 15th, from 11:00am to 4:00pm at the Kelley Engineering Center. The Expo features more than 100 student built projects and the Robo Palooza with the TekBok Triathlon. For more information, see Mary Beth in the School to Career office.
Grad Night:
Seniors: Get your ticket to the Grad Night Party this Friday at lunch in the student lounge. The cost is $35.00.
