Regular Red Day

 

Counseling:

Tomorrow is NOT a LATE START for Freshmen, Sophomores and Juniors.  Wednesday is “Testing Day”, and all 9th, 10th and 11th grade students should be on campus by 8:00am.  Testing begins at 8:15am.  Bring your Churchill ID, 2 number 2 pencils  and a calculator.  Seniors should not be on campus until after 11:30am.  The locker bays will be closed, so make sure you have all your books and lunch with you.

 

All Juniors – Listen carefully:  The PSAT is a mandatory test for all juniors tomorrow.  You will need to bring 2 pencils, a calculator and photo ID.  Report to the Auditorium halls between 7:45 and 8:10am.  If your name begins with A thru J enter door 1.  If your name begins with K thru Z enter door 2.  The test will begin immediately at 8:15am, and end at 11:40am.

 

An organizational meeting for a Sustainable Living Club will happen at lunch Thursday in room H-20, Mr. Horowitz’ classroom – recycling, rethinking and reworking our daily activities.

 

Churchill Choir members…There will be no lunchtime rehearsal today—Again, no rehearsal at lunch today for DSS.

 

The Churchill Thespians will meet Friday as soon as school gets out to distribute  point cards and have apprentices fill theirs out and members update theirs.  This meeting will be in the choir room right after early release on Friday.

 

 

Would you like to study in France for a year, or host a student from South Africa for a semester?  Learn more about these and other foreign study and travel abroad opportunities by attending the regional International Study and Abroad Fair on Thursday, October 22nd from 7:00 to 8:30pm, in the Sheldon High School Cafeteria.  This event is free of charge.  All interested Lane County students and parents are encouraged to attend.  If you have any questions, please contact the IHS office.

 

Key Club:

There will be a Key Club meeting today at lunch in room H-5 (Mrs. Hilkey’s room).

 

 

Zombie Survival Club:

The Zombie Survival Club is a place to explore the options of the world, and the way people look on life. We will be studying the whole look on Zombies, and how to survive. We meet in The Video Production room during lunch, every Tuesday, come and explore you own view on the possibilities.

 

Gardening/Landscaping Club:

There is a new club on the horizon.  We are going to have an informal meeting on Wednesday at 3:10pm in room K-8 to decide how we want to beautify CHS with gardening and landscaping.  Come join us to decide the what, why, and how of this new gardening club.

Career Center:
Great college visits this week!  The University of San Francisco will be here Wednesday at noon.  Montana State and Evergreen will visit on Friday.

Picture Retakes:

Picture retakes are going on right now through lunch, if you didn’t get your picture taken at registration please do it now.

 

Gardening/Landscaping Club:

Alice in Wonderland:

Are you or do you know anyone between the ages of 10 to 14 years old.  Have you ever wanted to put on a play?  Here’s your chance!!  Come to the choir room after school, today for an informational meeting about helping put on the play.  The meeting will only be about 45 minutes long.

Late Start Blue Day

 

Career Center:

On Sunday, approximately 80 colleges and universities from around the country will visit Lane Community College and will provide handouts and information to all interested parents and high school student.  You can enter a drawing for a scholarship.  For more information, stop by the Career Center.

 

Career Center:

In need of volunteer hours?  Volunteers are needed for this Saturday’s prevention convention.  For more information, look for Sargent  Lisa Barrong in front of the school today during lunch at 12:25pm.

 

Club Fair:

The Club Fair is tomorrow, at lunch in the Courtyard.

Open House is tonight.  Send your parents to school and have them check out your classes.  Any students needing community service, and is willing to be here tonight, see Julie in the Counseling office for more information.

Rachel Carson:

Walk and bike to school day is tomorrow!  Be sure to walk or bike and get a chance to participate in the drawing for IPODs and other prizes.

 

 Career Center:

Career Center:
University of  Denver, today, right now.
Community Service:  The Police department is doing a Crime Prevention Day on October 17th and they need your help!  Stop by the Career Center for details.
Scholarships:  Seniors, dust off your resume and bring it to the Career Center to be considered for several great scholarships.

Library:
Today is the last day of Banned Book Week:  a time when we remember that books still get banned in our country.  Come to the Library, we have books that have been both challenged and banned in our country in paper bags.  Feel free to take out any of the books in bags and read why people wanted to ban them.  Then check one out and expand your mind.

Attention Lancers:
Do you need a part-time job?  Do you enjoy having a little extra cash?  Stop by the School- to-Career bulletin board, located just past the finance office, and check out the jobs notebook.  Jobs are updated every Tuesday.

Churchill Dance:
The Churchill Dance team is having a car wash this Sunday, 11:00 to 4:00pm, at Auto Kraft (on west 11th avenue).  Come and show your support.

Spanish Conversation Group:
The Spanish Conversation Group will meet today, during lunch in room F-46 Sra Alicia’s room.

APISU:
Asian Pacific Islander Student Union is having it’s first meeting today, during lunch in the Japanese room in room F-57.  This club is open to anyone interested in the Asian culture.

Baccalaureate

The Baccalaureate is a religious send off for graduating seniors. This church service is held for all denominations in honor of the seniors of 2009. Churchill High School 2009 Baccalaureate will be held Wednesday June 10 at 7 pm at Valley Covenant Church. The Baccalaureate will include Shannon Kearney as the guest speaker, a remembrance for Megan Kennedy, and special music by Churchill senior Eugenia Su. Doors open at 6:45. Refreshments will be provided. Come celebrate a farewell sermon for the graduating Churchill class of 2009.

The last Anime club of the year will be this Thursday, after school, in the Japanese room.  Everyone is welcome to come!

All current library aides, please come to the library at lunch today for the end of the year pizza party.

Remember, seniors must return all library and text books in order to receive their diploma.  All other students must return all library and text books in order to receive their early schedule or transcripts in the fall.

 

Health Center:

Students, you community health center will be open all summer.  You can get health care for almost anything there.  The health center is a full service family practice, located just behind the career center.

 

Seniors:

Remember to order your transcripts!

Advanced Placement Literature:

A mandatory meeting for next year’s AP Literature students will be held in room J-9 on today at lunch.  If you can’t make it, please see Joy Wells or Leah Dunbar ASAP.
